Interesting read HERE.
It figures that something like this would come from Time Warner (AOhelL)
Saw this on the news today, this can be a good thing or bad thing.
If you are somebody who doesn’t use the internet much and your usage doesn’t require high bandwidth (video streaming, etc…) then this can help some people save money.
Where as others it would be more expensive so they would most likely pay a single price for unlimited access.
I really hope they don’t do this nationwide because if they do it others will follow. They need to invest money in upgrading their network to handle all the streaming multimedia content rather than trying to punish people. With Netflix, iTunes etc offering Movies for rental over the internet their congestion problem is only going to get worse.
Thanks for the Link Neal
If you check into this further justin1278, this isn’t designed to save money for the light user but rather to increase the fees
for those of us that are heavy bandwidth users.
They don’t intend to lower the cost for the light user just increase it for the heavy user. >:( >:(
Well I didn’t say it was a win-win scenario, light users will most likely pay less then heavy users which is good, why should everyone pay $30 a month when some rarely use the internet but need it available. I believe they are making this package an option, and they are going to keep their current package where you pay one price for unlimited access, I could be wrong on this didn’t catch all the details.
Anyways I don’t use Time Warner so this doesn’t effect me (I use RoadRunner from BrightHouse networks in my area). But if they are going to keep their current package an option and have this option available then I do not think this is a bad idea.
But if you’re saying that this is how they may charge all users from now on then I can understand people being upset.
But like I said, I believe this is going to be a pricing option not a full price scheme replacement, but I am not positive :-\
justin1278,
If you think that any corporation changes its pricing policy simply to save it’s consumers money,
then your living in a dream world.
Big business has only one allegiance PROFIT

Of course I do not think this, this goes completely against the idea of business. I’m just repeating what I saw on the news
