Hi,
I have the following problem since the next to last program update.
The e-mail accounts that I talk among my domains at my Webprovider, I can not retrieve it correctly. the accounts can be accessed via SSL connection. Then this will not be checked by avast. So I have been enabled as requested in the instructions. When avast mail protection with SSL, the mail server is registered in my provider. Now I get but when retrieve emails with Thunderbird each time a timeout message. But do not get mail. If I turn off the mail protection avast I get my emails that are not natural then examined.
The translation into English is done with google tool because I speak the language too badly.
I had what seems to be the same e-mail problem. No problems with Avast 4.x, but after upgrading to Avast 5 I wasn’t able to check e-mail. I even changed e-mail client (from Eudora to Mozilla Thunderbird), but that didn’t help. I had to turn off Avast scanning of incoming E-mail to check my mail.
But after some fiddling and reading here, I stubled upon this fix: Open the Avast UI (double click the Avast icon), then go to (I use a localized version, so the naming may not be exact):
Real Time Shield tab > E-mail Shield tab > Expert settings button > SSL Accounts.
Here you should see a list of incoming and outgoing e-mail servers. Click the incoming servers that have a problem (I just clicked the POP3 entry), and then click on Delete. Done. Avast seems to configure itself correctly after this, and e-mail checking works without disabling the scanner.
