Hello, I am currently using avast Premier, I also bought the grimefighter and securline VPN. I turned my avast to hardened mode (aggressive) and to detect pup.
My question is if I am running to much antivirus/maleware on my computer, I’m woondering if what I am using might create problems or performance issues. I’m also using malewarebytes, where I put it to scan for rootkits. I also put the windows defender so scan everything it can. I’m talking about the windows defender for windows 7. I also got a metascan for every download I download online. My question is simply if this will get me any performancy issues or anything. Thanks
;D Also when you are answering, please try make it understandable as I am not the best when it comes to these computers.
You can disable Defender, not needed at all with Avast and Malwarebytes.
Will it affect my performance ?
If you disable Defender you’ll have better performance, it’s logic that the less components running will improve performance
avast and malwarebytes anti-malware free are sufficient for your needs. Run weekly scans of MBAM are enough.
More to the point, I’ve never seen Windows Defender detect anything other than one single time across several XP and Win 7 platforms over several years, so it is a waste of your system resources running it. Impact of running WD on your system will cause your system to be noticeably a little slower in boot and operation.
avast has the real-time anti-malware protection you need. (If you want to upgrade to Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro with real-time protection, I suggest you purchase a licence from them for increased protection.)
I already got malewarebytes anti-maleware premium. Ok so I’ll listen to the advice and disable windows defender, anything else I should disable or perhaps add ?
Some good additions would be MCShield, Spyware Blaster and MalwareBytes Anti-Exploit.
Each of these are free and won’t slow down you system. Unchecky can be used to untick
opt-outs when doing a software install.
As far as Windows Defender (WD) goes it may or may not create a conflict with avast.
You are better off with WD disabled since it’s useless anyway. Whether it’s WD or Microsoft
Security Essentials this applies http://www.howtogeek.com/173291/goodbye-microsoft-security-essentials-microsoft-now-recommends-you-use-a-third-party-antivirus/
This is what I recommend http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/348401-pc-sluggish-programs-load-and-perform-slowly/page-2 post 18 after the RAM discussion
Both essex and Para-Noid give good advice.
Layered defence is the way you want to go.
In addition to what Para-Noid recommends, I would suggest Heimdal Free (available in paid version also): https://heimdalsecurity.com/en/ Free version should be sufficient if MBAM Anti-Exploit is installed for home use.
Significant vulnerabilities happen in your third-party programs and if not kept up to date, malicious exploits can/will occur.

Alright, thanks wont it affect my computer speed if i download all the programs you guy recommended me ? Anyways I downloaded them and disabled windows defender. Thanks !
McShield waits for you to insert an USB stick for protection.
Unchecky waits for a third-party install before it springs into action if needed.
The other two are not active real-time scanners, but issue block actions automatically. No system resources are used unless a malicious action or rule is detected.
Modified my post above, see note about CCleaner. Very useful tool. Just refrain from use of registry cleaner, not necessary to use.
I have all of them installed and active in my 8 years old system. You can see my specs in my sign down below. With todays system running multiple cores and more than 4 GB ram I don’t think you will have any problems. Now. You will have to try because not all system are created equal and computers behave funny now and then
There’s also one more: CryptoPrevent for blocking installation of ransomware.

Default settings should be sufficient for your needs.
Since Avast already contains a tool that monitors for outdated programs, why add something else like Heimdal Free which is resident and uses resources. ???
I didn’t install that one either, only malewarebytes anti-exploit and spyware blaster.
I also downloaded mc shield
