Too much CPU usage:

Yesteraday i recieved a critical update on Avast.
I chosed to have 30 trial (if that helps) and from that point Avast consumes 30-50% of my CPU :
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2,33GHz
4,0GB RAM
OS:
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Is the “full” version too heavy for my old PC?
Is there a “lighter” version or how can i make it lighter ?

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…?
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

Did you reboot a few times ?

I did reboot my PC quite some times.
The version of Avast in my PC is 12.3.2279 (build 12.3.31149.0)
Today’s update 160816-1

No other antivarius system installed.
I HAVE ussulay the free version but once it instaled last evening i had the option (that I activated) to have 30 trial of full version.
I never used othe AV than Avast the last 3 years and more!
If it helps: I receieved a message when the new version installed that i had to register again.

Thanks i will start by disabling some of the componets to see if they affect the CPU usage.
Thanks again!

You’re welcome.

The CPU usage is from “Cleanup” if you disable it you are fine…

Yea that is correct! I disabled CLEANUP and now Avast uses 1% of CPU if no other programms running same time!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH my friend!

You’re welcome…

Strange that an item listed under Performance is to blame for slowing down the system.
I always do a custom install and uncheck Cleanup.
