Transfer licence to replacement computer from broken one?

My laptop broke and Microsoft is sending me another one. Is there any way I can use my new avast security on the new laptop with the same activation key or do I need to purchase it again?

thanks

Eddy

Hi Eddy, you can use the same key.

Asyn,

thanks for that. I was worried I had just spent £40 for 2 years of protection that I could only use for less than 2 weeks!!

So, I guess I just make note of the activation key and then wipe this computer to its factory setting then redownload Avast onto my new computer add in the key and all will be well?

cheers,

Eddy

Yep. Cheers

The activation key should work, but it has a limited number of times you can use it, that limit however isn’t on the actual license file. You should also have got that with the email that had the activation code.

You should also be able to assign the license to the new system/installation from your my.avast.com account.

You can also use the Resend avast License https://www.avast.com/resend-license-paid.php, you will need to enter the email that you used when purchasing the license, e.g. the one that the original email with the link was sent.

I have had trouble with the account. I purchased the key through the app and now when I go on my account it says I don’t have any activation keys but I clearly do so I don’t know what is going on there. I’m sure if I make a note fo the key and then pop it into avast on my replacement computer it should all be fine.

I’m regretting purchasing anything. all the app does is tell me to buy more stuff. not even sure what it is extra I get over the free version. clearly not much if I can still buy another 4 different types of cover apparently!

Thanks for the help
plus this verification rubbish takes me six times minimum to get the letters right. I’m glad my vision isn’t any worse. terrible idea

You can disable the ads in the paid versions: Avast GUI → Settings → Privacy

PS: Captcha is only needed for your first 3 posts. (Spam protection)

Do you reckon you could help with a separate issue?

I have added avast to my mac and in the process accidentally deleted the password extension. I can’t for the life of me find it in the extension store on google chrome.

I swear it did exist, but no longer…

See if this works for you:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.avast.android.passwordmanager&hl=en_US

Thanks but unfortunately it is a link for a phone, this is for my google chrome on my mac and windows computer

This is for chrome on a Windows system. I don’t know if it’s different if you’re using a Mac:
https://pamcdn.avast.com/pamcdn/extensions/install/win/extension/en.html?p_pei=sQiYOfM4PeW1r0c6mlan45Tx5fKhTJC7Pbu0dQBC&cn=User%20extension%20install&cs=Settings&lang=en-us
Since it’s for the browser, I really can’t see there being any difference.

Reinstalling Avast should also bring back the Password Manager.
