Trat BHO [trj]

Ok, I made a previous thread about the virus which name keeps changing.
I now have Super Antispyware, Spyware blaster, Anti-rootkit, and avast. I’ve checked updates with Secunia. Should I go through the same steps as I did with the false positive I was getting earlier?

Also spyware blaster keeps indicating that I have a win.fixer trojan, yet Avast! doesn’t see it, nor spyware blaster.

This entry for a randomly named dll seems to have crept into your log since your last posting.

O4 - HKLM..\Run: [BM6af32cb9] Rundll32.exe “C:\WINDOWS\system32\ymmsxmpu.dll”,s

Here’s a method you can use to zap it:

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=33440.0

Hi guys. I find the absence of 02 and 03 lines suspicious. Perhaps renaming hijackthis.exe to whatever.exe, then running it again. You may see different results, or maybe not.

Changed Hijack this to whatever.exe. Wrote myself a note so I wouldn’t forget and freak when I didn’t know what whatever was. No change. Ran a SuperAntiSpyware sweep and Adaware. Both found it and removed it, but it’s still there. (Did this with System restore off)

Current HT log - Thanks in advance.

ok, I am stupid. I don’t know how to get GMER to find the geedc.dll
I tried all that I could, no luck. I can find it manually, but not with GMER.

There is a difference, The 02 and 020 lines are visible now. It shows a vundo infection.

Open HJT, run a system scan only, check mark these lines if present

Most of it’s gone, now for the rest.

Open a new Notepad session (Do not use a Word Processor or WordPad). Click “Format” and be certain that Word Wrap is not enabled.

Copy and paste all the text in the quote box below into Notepad.

Click File, Save as…, and set the location to your Desktop, and enter (including quotation marks) as the filename: “CFscript.txt” . Using your mouse left button, drag the new file CFscript.txt and drop it on the ComboFix.exe icon as shown at the bottom of this post.

File:: C:\WINDOWS\pskt.ini C:\WINDOWS\BM6af32cb9.xml

Folder::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rom1
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lis6
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kps5
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tip4

This will start ComboFix again.Close all browser/windows first. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HJTlog.

Download WinPFind35u.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named WinPFind35u on your desktop.

[*]Close ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
[*]Open the WinPFind35u folder and double-click on WinPFind35U.exe to start the program.

[*]Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
[*]Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
[*]When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
[*]Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.

Use the Add Reply button and attach the log. I will review it when it comes in.

The log will be quite long, so please attach it to your next post, by using the additional options button on the reply page, you may have to scroll down to see the browse button.

Thanks

THanks for alerting me to the attachments.

The WinPfindu Log.

Thank you!

Not a whole lot of interest there, just some cleanup. If you are not having a problems after doing the following fix, please procede to the clean up of the tools.

Start WinPFind3U. Copy/Paste the information in the quotebox below into the pane where it says “Paste fix here” and then click the [b’Run Fix[/b] button.

[Files/Folders - Created Within 30 days] NY -> 1 C:\WINDOWS\*.tmp files -> C:\WINDOWS\*.tmp [Files/Folders - Modified Within 30 days] NY -> 1 C:\WINDOWS\System32\*.tmp files -> C:\WINDOWS\System32\*.tmp NY -> 1 C:\WINDOWS\*.tmp files -> C:\WINDOWS\*.tmp YY -> imsins.BAK -> %SystemRoot%\imsins.BAK [Empty Temp Folders]

The fix should only take a very short time. When the fix is completed a message box will popup telling you that it is finished. CLick the Ok button and Notepad will open with a log of actions taken during the fix. Post that information back here .

  • Click start button, run, then copy and paste the following line into the box and click ok.

ComboFix /u

You do not have to install the Java Web Start ActiveX Control

Accept the license agreement > Click on Windows (XP,Vista, .etc) Offline Installation, Multi-language and Save the file jre-6u4-windows-i586-p.exe to your desktop; do not Run it. Do not install it yet.

When the download is complete, Open Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs:

Uninstall anything that says Sun Java, Java JRE, or similar.

Close Add/Remove Programs.

In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Java <=this folder, if found. Delete any subfolders it may contain.

Do NOT delete C:\Program Files\JavaVM <=this folder, if found!

Reboot your computer.

Double-click on the saved file to install the update.

Delete the downloaded installation file after completing the above procedure and reboot if not prompted to do so.

  • Download and run this clean up utility. You can use it regularly. When it’s first run, it is in demo mode to show you what it will remove. Review it and then rerun in real mode. It is configurable.

  • If you are using windows firewall, please note that it doesn’t provide outbound protection. A third party firewall will.
