I turned on my computer this morning and saw a notification saying there was a new update for avast and I decided to go on ahead and do it manually. After the update finished it said that it may need to restart the computer for the update to take affect but instead of waiting for it to restart on its own i restarted it manually using the restart button on my computer. After my computer restarted it wouldn’t connect to the internet and avast is turned off and won’t turn back on no matter how many times I press the fix now and start button in the avast interface. How can I fix this? Should I uninstall avast and install again and how do I install it again since I downloaded it digitally? On my receipt it said 3 pcs 2 years so I assume that means I can download it 2 more times before I have to pay again or something. Please any help with this would be much appreciated, this is my first time using avast and for the first couple weeks it worked great but I don’t want to uninstall it just to find out you have to pay again since I don’t have enough money to pay for it again.
try avast repair, if that does not work you may try a new clean install
For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
and you want have to pay again,
you can download and uninstall/install as many times you like.
It is the license key you pay for…

It means that you have a 2 year license and you may install the software on 3 separate computers using the same license on all 3 computers. Let us know if the repair mentioned by Pondus does the trick.
If you still have a problem, it would also help to know what operating system you are running, and how you connect to the internet.
yup the repair did the trick. thanks for the help and welcome.
