Trojan Found!!!!

Ok should I panic now! Actually I was told i alredy sent this but it never showed up that I could see so here goes… I just recieved a Warning from Avast with all the bells and whistles that a Trojan was found!!! I moved it to the check and am worried … do i need to panic or is this something that just happens and Avast is just doing its job? Im sorry to bother you again but i figured it was better to ask you early on than wait if this is something i need to address now!!! Been there done that the other way (hiding head in sand that is). Im sending on what i have in the chest… KILLIT.EXE C:\HP\BIN Win32:Trojan-Gen.

Thanks again
Sasy

nope… you don’t have to be scaried… this file was repoted to us already as a false positive…

This does not seem good to me… I just got another warning here is the informantion on it:
File Name: A0003429.EXE
Folder: C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFOMATION_RESTORE{DDE3EB95-4B24-44D8-AD38-1F974B6C2F0}\RP18
Virus description: WIN32:TROJAN-GEN{OTHER}

Im trying not to panic… but I am a big concerned!!!
Thanks again
Susie

System restore no panic just reset your restore points

it’s probably the same one false positive… the solutions are 1) add “C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFOMATION” to exclusions or 2) wait for a fixed VPS

Im not sure what all that means but for now I did get a new system restore point as Essexboy suggested and deleted all old ones.
Thank you
Susie

You are going to get that warning until the fp is fixed.

For now I suggest, lock down your firewall (set it to block all) because you may have to pause avast’s standard shield.

Open the chest, click on the infected section, right click on the file and select restore. That will put the file back to where it came from. If avast warns you, pause it. Note the file path.

Left click the “a” icon, select standard shield, cutomize button, advanced tab
On the advanced tab go to exclusions. Use the menu to navigate to the file and add it.

Avast should now ignore the file.

You did the right thing, move to chest and investigate. ;D

Question?? I had 2 warnings come in do I need to do the above steps for both of them? and… If I set my firewall to block all doesn’t that mean I won’t be able to go anywhere online?
Geesh…you would think I would get smarter at this stuff pretty soon! Thanks again Oldman!! bye the way Im on Oldman3 for system restore points!

and… one more question… what is the fp that needs to be fixed and how will i know?
Thanks Sasy

The fp=false positive. Avast deteted a good file as bad.

Depends on the warning.

If you are set at block all, that’s right you can’t go anywhere. I only suggested doing that when you where restoring the file, Resume avast afterwards and reset your firewall to it’s usual setting.
