Trojan /virus typing 444444444 without my intervention

I am having trouble typing on my laptop. When I try to type website urls in browser, search forms, typing in Notepad and Word etc, 44444 (number 4) will be entering automatically. If I try to delete more 4s are entering there.

What kind of Trojan/virus is this ? Any ideas how to get rid of this?

My Avast is latest version. Virus updates are latest.

Using Windows XP. Opera browser.

If it is present in all forums of text typing, I would think its a hardware problem, not software, i.e. a dirty keyboard, especially a laptop, being more exposed to elements if its ever on-the-go.

If a full Avast! scan yields nothing, and you think you are infected, you could try Mbam http://www.malwarebytes.org/

dead keyboard probably…not much to do in the virus section…anyway, try to disable your touchpad and use a mouse instead, see if that brings something…(yeah, touch pads may induce typing issues on laptop keyboards, mine is deactivated permanently because of that).

OK. Disabled touchpad. Installed a mouse. Still 44444444.

Now laptop is giving some ‘keeeeek’ noise when started. It goes on until I press ‘End’ button.

any update on this? I have the same problem about 44444444444444444444444 typing without my intervention
