Trojans and Hoax alarm

Hi there, I am new to this board but not new to avast! Anyway I am having some problems with a couple things and I can’t seem to get rid of them.

Avast is constantly (around every 15 mins or so) finding trojans and adaware (named Hoaxalarm) in my system. The Trojans Show up in the System32, as alot seem todo. Now each of these trojans has a different location, but are all in System32. This leads me to believe that I have a Trojan Downloader. I have cleared my Temp Interent folder in safe mode, I have yet to run a scan in safe mode yet I fear this will do nothing. I run the following protection programs:
Avast!
Microsoft Anti-spyware
Adaware
Spy-bot: Search and Destroy

I have all of these scans excluding Avast, as it is always running and always picks up anything before it has a chance todo damage.
I realize Hoaxalarm has been discussed before

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=90899632b623b7d1cb3072d4f13df599&topic=15721.30

Yet the files listed that the user deleted are not located on my computer.
Are this Trojans connected to Hoaxalarm??
Any suggestions on how to get rid of these problems?

Any help will be much appreciated. thank you

btw Hello from the Great white North

Hi whtme,

You need to download this tool and use as instructed on the page:

http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php

(This is similar to the SmitRem tool I recommended in the thread you linked to, but is updated more often and seems to be more effective against new versions of the hoax program you have.)

Follow this with a scan with Ewido anti-malware scanner:

http://www.ewido.net/en/

Thanks I’ll give those a shot when I have more time, midnight really isn’t the time to do this, but I got all day tomorrow. I’ll let you know of the results. These two programs you suggest they wont interfer with the other ones I run will they?

SmitfraudFix is a once-only tool; Ewido plays nicely with avast!, Microsoft Anti-spyware, Ad-Aware and Spy-bot Search & Destroy.

Well it seems to have worked. Avast hasn’t detected anything for about 4 hours. thank you very much for your help. I just have one more question about smitfraudfix. After I have used it, it is safe to delete it right, there are nor lingering affect from the program? And is the link you gave me where I can always get the mst up to date version or does it change? If it does change where can I get the most up to date version? thanks again.

 Hi “Whyme” :

Smitfraudfix is safe to uninstall.etc ; perhaps even wise to
do so since it may be "updated" at any time, making the

“old” version not as good as the “new”. This program
should always be downloaded from :
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip .
Perhaps in the future the anti-malware Experts will come
up with a new “tool”, making this one "obsolete !?

Hi Spiritsongs, the link given by Frank http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php would probably be better as it also gives user instructions on that page also. They can also download from that page.

Either one works, I have this page book marked and will book mark the one given by Frank also. Thank you all for your help. Funny thing is I am originally from Britain, and now have two Britains helping me. My Cousin (also from england) help me last time I had a virus I couldn’t get off. Again thanks you lot.
