trouble boot scan

HI

I have tried on 3 occasions to do a boot scan it runs okay comes to the end of the scan and that is where the problem is.
The scan says i have this Trojan "File C:\System Volume Information_restore{A1DFAF63-E740-437E-B48A-CE27D87ABAD6}\RP55\A0006114.EXE is infected by Win32:SrchAssist-2 [Adw]

The options etc repair delete etc i cannot use as my keyboard doesn’t seem to be working and i have to press reset to get out oft boot scan.

I read in an earlier post about the keyboard in a usb socket, so i changed that still no show.

I"m using WindowsXP SP2 and avast professional.

Cheers

How about disabling system-restore, reboot, do a scan, reboot and enable system-restore ???
Just a thought.
Fast

Hi Fast

I would certainly give that a try but even then i think i would not be able to do anything as my keyboard goes dead when i do a boot scan.
The rest of the time the keyboard works fine.

I also noted after i used the reset button my keyboard was not working when the computer rebooted where it asks you etc go into safe mode, start normally.
So maybe i have a problem with my keyboard connection?

I am only guessing.

Thanks four suggestion

Cheers

But if your logged in, your comp has booted, you can use the keyboard ?
Because to disable system-restore, in order to flush possible infected restorepoints, you don’t need to be in safe-mode.
Am I misunderstanding when your keyboard works and when not ?
Sorry, English is not my native language :-[

And how about this: http://www.lakefolks.org/cnt/

Hi Fast

I can disable restore but as soon as i do a bootscan i lose the keyboard.

I found an old keyboard and that worked alright and i could delete the infected file in bootmode.
The problem i had was my keyboard was using usb connection, so i will have to get a connection so the keyboard is not connected to the usb outlet.
I will just have to use this old keyboard for now.
All is now cleared no infections keyboard working even in bootmode .

Sorry for any confusion i should have realized that it might have been the keyboard connextion, that was the problem.

Well, I’m glad for you it works now
