Trouble Updating Virus Definitions

An adverse interaction has recently developed between AVAST anti-virus and Tiny Firewall. Updating the virus definitions will fail unless the firewall is in the vulnerable auto-learn mode.

It seems every update creates a new version of icarus.exe. In the past, this problem did not exist.

Long topic about this:
https://community.avast.com/t/for-a-week-or-so-the-firewall-asks-everytime-if-icarus-exe-can-connect-even-an-allowed-rule-is-set/850416

THANKS for the response.

AFAIK, Tiny Firewall “sits” on top of the Windows firewall and “hardens” it. I’ve happily used Tiny Firewall for many years and will not switch.

I’m an old man retiree and rely on “freeware”. However, AVAST’s paying customers have been adversely impacted too. FIX IT (quickly) seems to be a common sentiment.

And the Windows Firewall is impacted also, plus some stand alone 3rd party Firewalls.

Note I’m an Avast User and not an Avast Team member, pointing you at the larger related topic, which you can monitor.
