Troubles with registration of Avast Home

Hello, recently Ive set up Avast 4.7 Home Edition on my home computer (Windows XP HE). In several days i registered it, inserting key recieved from the Avast site. After registration I found in the window "About Avast" - "Key registration" chapter that there was written that time of updating is limited - 6 month from now. As far as I know Registration key works one year. The same problem with Avast I noticed on one more computer and time of expire of the key was only 2 months there. So whats the reason and why time of expire of key is decreased?

Check the system date on these systems and make sure the month and year are correct, adjust as required.

The registration for avast 4 home hasn’t changed and is 14 months.

Good news.

But as for troubles, the system date is correct on both computers

Actually, it says 1 year on the registration page ::slight_smile:

Well, 2 extra months are due to the trial period that could be used by the user

I should say that key i used for registration of Avast was download in january of 2006 year. Could be that the reason of shorterning of time of expire of the key?

It should be valid until the end of February or the begginning of March of 2007.

Avast says that key will be valid until the 1st of April 2007. So as far as I understand the reason of the troubles is request for the key was made several month before registration of Avast, isn`t it?

It shouldn’t. The period is counted from the key being sent (and not applied to the computer).
Maybe, most probably, the error is just on the

Maybe just 31 of January, for instance… I won’t worry that much 8)

The request of key for registration was made this year in january the 12th. So what`s the reason?

Only Alwil team could solve the mistery of the key validity :-\

I don’t know the exact algorithm for the key generation (and the subsequent validity), but I’d say if the key was generated in January, maybe the “deadline” taken is the end of the month (i.e. 31th January / 1st February)… plus 14 months is 1st April next year. So yes, I think it’s possible.

Regarding the key itself… the validity of the key starts at the moment it is issued (sent). So, if you requested this particular key in January and inserted it now, then yes, the validity will be only a few months. You can simply register again and get a brand new key.
