I need to turn avast! home off to load a commercially purchased software program. How do I do that?

First, why does this program need you reduce your protection while you install it? What does it have to hide?

I never give in to such requests on any software I install.

If you feel you must do so then simply right click on the avast icon in the System Tray and select “Stop On-Access Protection”. If you do then do not forget to use the same location to restart your avast protection.

Antivirus shouldn’t be disabled in any installation (at least, not for the good programs, with good installers/uninstallers).

What worked perfectly installing the program (?) leaving avast enabled or disabling avast before installing the program (?) ?

I disabled it just long enough to load the program and then re-enabled avast.

Everything’s working fine.

Why did you do that? avast shouldn’t be blocking or messing with a clean program…
