Hi…

Boo who? (Just kidding, sorry, I couldn’t resist ;D)

We’ll need a bit more information. What operating system (version of Windows) are you running? What are the events surrounding this problem? Did you just install avast on your system? What antivirus program, if any, were you using before avast?

May God bless you

im using windows xp, and i reentered my license key, and it wasnt turned on. i thought maybe i just waited too long to re register. but now it wont turn on at all.

Hi…

So you just installed avast recently? Did it act normally before today? What was your last AV program?

God bless

Normally this is due to remains of a antivirus leftovers causing red circle on the avast A Icon. What antivirus did you have on the computer before installing avast? (Nortons & Macafee have removal tools). Try repair of avast through add and remove programs.

i’ve always had avast as my anti-virus, and it has always worked fine until this past time that i reinstalled it.

Does avast 4.8 have repair?
If yes then go to control panel,go to add/remove programs, click on the avast 4.8,click on add or remove,
scroll down then try to see if there is repair. If there is,then try a repair and let’s see if it will works again.
If not you should remove it and reinstall it!Hope it will work!

Merry Christmas and Happy new year^^

Try a clean reinstall:
Download the latest version of avast http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again. Use that when you reinstall. Ensure that you scroll down and select the avast direct download link for the English version and not Cnet as that is for an on-line installation (not what you want to do). - Direct download for avast Home, English version, http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupeng.exe.

Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, find it here and save it to your HDD.

    1. Now uninstall (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility, reboot. If step 1 failed it may be necessary to run this from safe mode, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.

If that doesn’t make any difference, try this:
avast! Program Settings (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Troubleshooting, ‘Delay loading of avast! services after other system services.’ Reboot after that and see if that resolves it.
