Two processes of aswEngSrv

Hello. About two weeks ago or so, when i launched my PC, i noticed there was a second process in task manager called aswEngSrv.exe. I know there should be one always running, but another one, leading to the same folder as the main, launched there as well. When i restarted my PC it didn’t launch again. But today i saw that it got launched again in task manager. Can someone confirm if he had it or not, or this is normal behavior? Let me add that my AV wasn’t updated recently, none of the settings were changed nor the OS programs or else. I only noticed that the difference between them two is different pipename in CLI

It is normal.
Maybe this explanation from Avast helps explain why.

Even tho it wasn’t quite happening before and recently it did?

It all depends on what you’re doing on your system.

The first time it happened the second process got launched right after my PC got booted. Second time, today, it happened when i was only surfing through Youtube i guess. I use my PC to communicate, work, or watch movies, nothing else. I don’t think i was doing something uncommon while it got launched, that’s why my curious starts here, especially when it happened a second time. Or maybe some kind of micro-update by Avast is causing it, i don’t know

I’m an Avast user like you. I passed along what I know.
Maybe Avast can chime in and give you further information.

Anyone have any clue? Recently it appears quite often and in task manager it looks like this:
Process path leads to the same file in Avast main folder.

Please attach your screenshot(s), some of us don’t follow external links.

Sorry, corrected.

Hi, if Avast is running smooth, I wouldn’t worry about how many processes are showing up.

Everything seems to work fine, no errors or something, at least i didn’t notice any. But from time to time i see in task manager on a startup that second aswEngSrv is running. It wasn’t happening before, that’s why it made me curious if it’s normal behavior.

It would be nice to hear from Avast to explain why there are several of the same
processes running.

Well, things change. And as outlined from Igor in your link from Reply #1, not everthing gets explained in detail, but feel free to dig deeper.

I think that’s why I requested an explanation from Avast.
