also i have a start up program open, and that state that avast has been allowed to start…
May I suggest a different approach?
Download ANEW the setup.exe for the latest stable version of Avast.
Download the removal utility for Avast http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility.
Now reboot into Windows Safe Mode and run the removal utility. Please do NOT run it under Normal Mode, and do NOT use at this time the normal “Add / Remove Programs”. Simply directly run the removal utility from Safe Mode.
Then reboot into Windows Normal Mode. DISable ALL gadgets. Search for any folder or file which file name contains the words “avast” or “alwil”. The same for any such folder. The only file that should “survive” should be the just downloaded ANEW avast setup.
Right click the setup.exe → properties → “unblock” (if the button is available - not grayed out).
Right click the setup.exe → “Run as Administrator”. Follow the installation instructions. When the setup finishes, please reboot IMMEDIATELY. Avoid configuring avast, the registration or any update at this point. Simply proceed with the normal reboot.
Once you reboot, configure Avast and update it. Once it is working correctly, please reboot AGAIN.
If Avast now works correctly, only now re-enable all the gadgets. Reboot once more so to test if Avast is being displayed correctly.
Please report back

@ady4um
ill give what you said today. and i will be back.
thanks
@ady4um
OK i followed your suggestion to the letter and it still not starting, only clicking desktop icon makes it continue… grrr why ? whats going on !!! ![]()
thanks
why does it work ok, if i turn UAC settings off ?
I really don’t know. If the setup was already “unblocked”, and you ran it with “right click → run as administrator” and then reboot, but it is still not working with UAC (but it works without UAC), then I guess you need either someone more experienced to give some different idea, or some Avast Team member.
@ady4um
thank you for trying to help… ;D ;D ;D
so is there any one here that can help me solve this problem ???
or the only other solution i can think of is to remove avast and try something else… :-\ ![]()
I suggest an installation from scratch:
ill try your suggestion,
but this just feels like I’m going around in circles(ground hog day) and doing the same thing as iv all ready done. x3

help please

I haven’t tested it myself, but you may try:
www.tweaking.com/content/page/repair_windows_sidebargadgets.html
If there is additional info about it in that page, read it before running it.
DISCLAIMER: I am not specifically recommending it, I have not used it, and I have (or had) no relation at all to that product or company. It’s up to you and it’s your responsibility.
mr-snappy, I need to think a solution… Most probably it will be in the gadgets and not in avast. But I do not have experience with that and I do not use gadgets myself. Sorry. Hope someone else with more knowledge could help.
I use the gadgets on my Windows 7 system.
The confusing thing to me is that I do not have an avast! icon on my Desktop but I do have one in the Taskbar.
i agree , i don’t think its avast its self. i have a feeling that something is eather blocking or stopping it from finishing its start up…
but thanks for everyones help so far,
iv just try`d to scan a file using right mouse then scan. at start up to see if im protected. and i get this…
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y288/sweap/avast3.jpg
so i dont think it has any thing to do with the gadgets. cos avast looks like its not even started :o :o :o
