My niece received a message that Avast had/was expired. When trying to update, she received the message “can’t update”.
She had purchased a new computer about three weeks ago and had gone to “avast.com” and d/l the program. (In fact I d/l the program for her and at that time there was no indication of subscribing to a new keyword).
I believe she may have posted an e-mail to “support”, so we’ll wait for a response
If you install it clean on a new system you still need to enter the registration which she previously used otherwise she will be using it in trial mode and it will expire. It will probably be easier to get a new key than try and find the old one, Whilst the home version is free you have to re-register to receive the vps updates (every 14 months). This gives avast an idea of the number of active users s they can plan the server support for these updates.
Complete the avast! 4 Home Registration form and you will receive an email from register @ avast.com (without the spaces) with your registration key.
Thanks, David, guess I forgot that one had to reregister every fourteen months. Also, I should have realized, my niece having a new computer would get a temporary keycode.
