"UI failed to load" after Windows update.

[list]Since yesterday Avast Internet Security (v. 17.8.2318) is saying “UI failed to load” after I turn on my computer following an update (PC running Windows 10 Home). When I click on “Restart Service” nothing happens. I tried:

  • “Update” Avast Internet Security from Control Panel. That didn’t help after the update.
  • “Repair” Avast Internet Security from Control Panel. That didn’t help after a “successful” repair.

What can I do to get Avast Internet Security running again on my computer without this problem?
