Unable to connect to device error

Hello guys,

After installing successfully the Avast App on my Android Phone, and registering it to my account, every time I try to locate it or use any other function it returns “Unable to connect to your device”.

The SMS functions work perfectly though.

I already tried to uninstall and reinstall to no avail.

Hi, please try to reconnect your device first:

  • open the app → tap on Menu → Avast Account → Disconnect → Sign out
  • select exactly the same method for login you use on my.avast.com (with Google, Facebook, or E-mail)
  • follow on-screen instructions to link the app to your My Avast Account

I forgot to mention that besides uninstalling and reinstalling, I already tried log out and log in on my account, from my device, using the same method, that in this case is my E-Mail (twice).
The device appears successfully on my device list on the avast account, however, it keeps returning the mentioned error when I try to locate my phone (or use any other function, like “lock”, for example).

Please try this:

  • open the app
  • make sure the screen doesn’t turn off (i.e. the phone is not put to sleep)
  • send the command
    If this doesn’t work, I’d recommend to reset the connection:
  1. uninstall ALL Avast apps (remove the Avast Mobile Security from Device Administrators first)
  2. check there is no “Avast” in your device Settings → Accounts
  3. remove the device from the Avast My Account
  4. only then install the Avast apps back and log them back in the My Account

Ive tried everyone of those recommendations and i still had to use Facebook to login???

After doing the steps provided, everything seems to be working as expected.
