Unable to login after new installation

Hi,
I just installed adnm (V 7.7.608) and i’m not able to login through the console with the default acount (Administrator/admin).
Configuration is:

  • Windows 2003 SBS SP1
  • SQL Server 2000
  • Licence is DEMO, installation for evaluation purpose.

Service avast! management server is running and avEngine.exe is running.
Check DB says Database compatible.
Check connection says ok.

I have tried to delete DB and create DB and even reinstalled the SW, no way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, would need to buy another product if issue can not be solved.

Hi ump, and welcome to the avast forum.

What error message are you getting when trying to log on, exactly? Does the message appear immediately after pressing the OK button?

BTW thanks for taking all the steps you described - seems you have already spent some time trying to solve this… :-\

the error message is:
“The requested address is not valid in this context”
“Unable to logon as administrator or connection error”

Yes i have already spent some time…
I’m running everything on the same machine, adnm, sql server and the console.

The error code sounds strange. Are you using IP address or DNS name? Does the Detect Servers button do anything (i.e. does it add anything to the drop-down list)?

Hi Vlk,
what do you mean with “…IP-Adress or DNS-Name…” ?
The “detect Server” button seems to work properly, after searching for a couple of seconds, it finds the server with the correct name, then i try to logon with the name it found.

Try using IP address of the server instead…
It may be a DNS problem.

BTW can you ping to the server by its name (in the form it was detected)?

(if you don’t understand what I’m saying - don’t worry ;-))

I seem to experience the same problem.

I installed avast and adnm with msde and ams maintainance can connect to the database (test connection). Supplying the same user and PW i cant’ logon the server (the server is found and ist pingable but locks like machine.subdomain.domain wheras in ams maintainance it says Netbios_name_of_machine\avast while Netbios_name_of_machine is pingable)

License is demo and the installation source is 10 days old (version 4.7)

what can i do??
