I have Avast! 6 Free on Windows 7 Starter, where the current registration for Avast!will expire 01/05/2011. I obtained a new License Key by email, but cannot find any successful method to either enter that Key offline, nor to re-register the application online.
When I try to enter the new License Key offline, I open Avast! and open “Maintenance” and then “Registration” on the left side. Unfortunately, although there is supposed to be an “Offline Registration” section, there is no such section available to which to scroll down.
When I try online registration, I open Avast! and open “Maintenance” and then “Registration” on the left side. Then I click on the “Register now” button. Unfortunately, although a Registration Form is supposed to appear, no Registration form appears, but instead there is a page headed:
“Your Avast! Protection will expire in xx days - Upgrade your protection now and save £20”.
Please let me know how I can re-license Avast! 6 Free successfully for a further 12 months.
Leave the thing alone. It will prompt you when the time comes and once again, you just renew the registration in the GUI, no messing with license keys from Avast website needed.
I don’t think you can renew a just about to expired license ahead of time. (More than 10 days out.) As stated, about ten days before expiration, you will get a pop-up notice on every reboot, or probably after every four hours, when Avast checks for updates by default. The pop-up will tell you it is time to renew your license.
Than you can go to Registration, by right-clicking in the system tray, or through the GUI and renew your license at that time.
If you ever need to reinstall the program, you MUST re-register using the above method.

You can’t re-register early in avast 6 as you could in earlier versions. You will start to get notifications 14 days before you need to re-register. At that point the avastUI, Maintenance, Registration interface will change to allow you to re-register directly from the interface. So no need for on-line form, wait for email and input registration.
