Unable to scan 2 files...

g’ morning  ! I recently did a thorough, full scan of my pc and got a message when it was done that there were 2 files that couldn’t be scanned. I tried searching for them but, perhaps, it didn’t give the complete file name , i couldn’t find it with only part. I don’t know what they are or if this is an issue. Running XP, 2nd edition SP2. They are:
c:\documents and settings\all users.…\sbRecovery.reg and
c:\documents and settings\all users.…\sbRecovery.ini
Any info would be greatly appreciated. This has never happened before. I always got a ‘clean’ scan…
thx kat

By examining 1) the reason given by avast! for not being able to scan the files, 2) the location of the files, you can get an idea of what program they relate to. You may need to expand the column headings to see all the text.

Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.

These files seem to be from Spybot Search&Destroy, when you fix/remove things it keeps backup/recovery information so you can restore anything that was mistakenly fixed/removed, etc. After a reasonable time your system has suffered no adverse effects, you can get rid of the older recovery/backup points.

This should reduce the number of protected files that avast could not scan.

Thank you very much Tech, as long as I know that they are meant to be there, i’ll delete them as you suggest, after a period of time. Be well… Kat

You’re always welcome.
