when i try to scan with avast i get a message that says “unable to scan: no more informatin available” what does this mean?
Strange…
We will need more information to be able to help you:
- Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
- What avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number?
- Do you use a firewall? Which one?
- Do you have any other antivirus installed in your system? Did you have in the past?
- Any other security programs that could interfere?
i’m using Avast! v4.8 home edition
VPS v. 080510-0 ?
i have activearmor firewall on my computer
and i also have spysweeper
So you’re using XP…
Did you have any other antivirus in the past in this computer?
Which type of scanning are you starting? Quick, Standard, Thorough?
What are you scanning? Drivers, some folders?
yeah i have xp
i used to have norton antivirus a long time ago
i’m trying to scan disks @ the moment…
oh and i’m trying thorough scanning
- Remove NAV through Add/Remove programs from Control Panel (if it’s there yet). Boot.
- Use Norton Removal Tool for Windows 2000/XP/Vista. Boot.
- Install avast! (or repair the installation) and boot.
norton antivirus is gone.
we had trouble with it before and had the guy who fixed our computer to permanently uninstall it…
So, if you run the tool, it won’t harm…
It’s not easy to troubleshoot a scanning that is not starting… Sorry, can’t help further.
