Unable to set exception for Web Shield

My staff need to access a website that uses a Java client to login to a remote system. Once Web Shield is enabled, it blocks the connection and it times out. With Web Shield disabled, the connection is made quickly and successfully.
I tried inputting the domain name into the exceptions list, but it doesn’t get saved. I’ve tried just the domain name e.g. domainname.com as well as *.domainname.com. Same result.

Any suggestions?

Are you saying that the web shield ‘alerts’ as it doesn’t block it isn’t a firewall ?

What avast product are these systems using and is it in these individual systems that the exclusions are trying to be saved ?

I suspect that because of the use of this JAVA (not javascript ?) may not be using 100% HTTP protocol over an http connections, this could cause issues in the web shield as it is expecting HTTP protocol over http ports. This would probably by why the exclusions don’t work (but not why they aren’t saved).

There is an option in the avastUI > Settings > Troubleshooting ‘Limit program assess for Guest account’ I wonder if these might be Guest/Limited accounts preventing changes from being saved.
