We’d love some help in removing all malware traces from our computer. Problem first surfaced when we visited a directions-based website that had triggered issues several years ago. (Not sure why this occurs, as the website is legit and accessible without problem from other computers.) In this case, it stopped letting me scroll up the page, and would only go down the page. I recognized this as a problem and closed out of everything immediately, then ran antivirus scans.
We have tried several scans and I’m not convinced we’re in the clear. Each seems to find different issues, some of which that program deals with and some of which the program cannot.
Avast quick scan found nothing, but the boot scan found 2 different issues. Although it identified these, it could neither repair, quarantine, or delete them. These seemed to be part of system files - one was in C:System Volume Information and the other was in C:Program Files/Earthlink Setup (we don’t use earthlink so I’m tempted to just delete this folder). Also, when looking at the Avast logs, there are also several other items listed with “high” severity that were unable to be deleted. Looks like these are related to EIShowSpyAbout.exe and SpywareBlocker.exe?
Malwarebytes found a few additional items (Trojan.BHO with category “registry key”) and was able to quarantine them. I thought it odd that Avast hadn’t found them.
Also ran Housecall and it found nothing.
Just downloaded TDSSkiller and it found no threats.
The items on the Avast list seem to be still present and are troublesome. Can someone assist? Many thanks…
