After having to reformat my mac, reinstall macOS (Ventura), and recover from time machine … it was time to re-install Avast Security for Mac (free version). The installer complains that Avast is already installed and that I need to uninstall it before the install. But, the app is gone, including the Uninstaller. There were a few app support files and scruff that I removed. Still no joy. Obviously there is still something there since in System Settings, there is a switch for allowing Avast to run in the background (I turned it off). There is no Avast startup item.
So, how to get rid of the last traces of Avast? Can’t find a way to download the Uninstaller (which is bundled with the app, which is not installed, but needs to be uninstalled … you see the problem).
