Uninstall SafePrice

I guys,

I did a booboo.

Since most unwanted stuff always has the auto install switched on, after updating to 12.2.2276, I opened Firefox and I had a popup asking if I wanted to install “SafePrice”. I checked the box and click… it was the other way around, if I didn’t want it, I just had to leave the box unchecked… my bad.

Now I have a Firefox plugin that has NO Remove option and a SafePrice folder under the main Avast folder.
No remove option… what kind of behavior is this?

I changed from Bitdefender Free because there are no update scheduling option or any Game Mode and the thing kept updating it’s definition every 90 minutes… killing me, my game play… messing me up. With Avast, the Game mode is going to be handy but if I have to fight Avast supplied PUPs… not too sure.

Come to think of it, it’s defeating your own purposes !

You can remove safeprice as any other add-on/plug-in from a browser.

I blocked it from installing. Opening your browser after a new Avast update, ask’s if you want SafePrice installed.
I simply didn’t allow it.
Or, if you didn’t block it then remove it from your browser Extensions.

Thanks for the answers guys but…

First, in Firefox, I use NoScript, uBlock Origin and Ghostery. I do not need anything else so I did not install the Avast Online Security (AOS) plug-in.

Second, like I said in my first post: There is NO Remove option. No red X next to it in the Add-Ons list.

Eddy… where was that not clear in my First post?

bob, “I blocked it from installing” didn’t I say I messed up and clicked it on? And no You can’t remove it like any other add-on, the option does not appear. Dude… when you do not know the answer… do not reply.

That Being Said

I Found My Own Answer On Some Adware/Malware Removal Site.

Control Panel > Programs and Features
Double click on the Avast free Antivirus like if you would want to uninstall it… don’t click on Uninstall… but choose Modify and uncheck “SafePrice browser extension” and then click Change.

How hard can it be for the avast personnel… people that cash paychecks written “Alwil Software” on it, to advise… to answer with the right solution.

Bugs me royally

I can remove it the way I said.
Don’t know why you can’t.

How hard can it be for a user do learn how to use software (s)he installed ?

We are not avast personnel.

Hi MotherDawg

Avast ( Uber ) Evangelists are no Avast employees, and not paid by Avast to help here on the forum.
We are Avast users like you who like to help other users.

Greetz, Red.

Red, I knew that… it’s just that some of them have no clue about the described problem but still post…

Maybe you need to fix Firefox ??? As you can see, removing SafePrice in FF isn’t any harder than removing it from any other browser that it’s been installed on.

expect lot of us haven’t “Remove” setting (just “Disable” like your “AOS” plugin) even with latest and really fixed Firefox version

As you can see, removing SafePrice in FF isn't any harder than removing it from any other browser that it's been installed on.
However You have not always been so sure about it , isn't any harder for you ? ;) https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=183493.msg1306276#msg1306276 it would have been better to stay on the solution found otherwise by MotherDawg (as he gives it)
Control Panel > Programs and Features Double click on the Avast free Antivirus................
Or , humbly explain to MotherDawg what's change between your april 12th post and now to reveal "Remove" set More , evangelist give the "add/remove" solution a lot of time here so Why make it simple when you can make it complicated ? a little bit of pretension ? Simple users are they all idiots?

All I’ve shown is that Avast has corrected the original problem.
It’s now very easy to remove SafePrice even in Firefox.
Removing it through Programs and Features has always been there but it’s a long and tedious way to accomplish
something that should always have been simple. Now it is.

Sorry , but it will be easy only when you explained what is wrong in firefox of lot of us where “Remove” plugin is not aviable. , like in your april post.

Until we couldn’t explain that , by the way spend 2 days with firefox setting to see how “remove” could appear, it remains easy to spend 2 minutes with control panel.

thank you for making the effort to look outside your own configuration

I do not doubt that it is easier for you but you do nothing to help us by the clever way , just says we are idiot without help.

So , I repeat MotherDawg:

it's just that some of them have no clue about the described problem but still post...
