Uninstall Trial version and revert to Free version . . ?

Hi

I’m a Happy Customer of Avast free version for many years but my girlfriend recently hit the wrong button on the programme update and accidently installed the four week trial version which is now due to expire in a few days . . . Only problem is she is a few hundred miles away at the moment on the laptop and doesn’t know one end of a mouse from her elbow :slight_smile:

Question: In order to get completely set up again with Avast Free version does she need to completely uninstall the current Avast Trial version from the hardrive, including aswclear.exe, before reinstalling the Avast free version or are there easier scenarios, simply install over the top, etc . . ?

A clean reinstall is certainly better… :wink:

  1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
