Phone is Samsung Galaxy S2, SGH-T989, Android 4.1.2. I purchased it new in January 2012 paying full price from Amazon. It was never under contract and is unlocked. I have used it on a prepay plan from Tmobile and several other carriers in Germany and Austria.
Installed Avast from Google Play many months ago. I have >160 apps installed and from time to time it is necessary to prioritize them and get rid of the low priority apps to make room for new apps. This time it was time for Avast to go.
Yesterday, I uninstalled Avast from the normal Android Apps interface. No special messages - just the normal “OK”.
Today, I rebooted the phone as I do at least once a week.
The phone begins to reboot, the bootup animation procedes as far as the white “Samsung” on a black screen and goes no further!
I have rebooted countless times, with battery pull, removed the uSD card…
I talked to US Avast phone support. They had no help as they are “PC Only” support. I filed a support ticket, #NRG-631-41822, and am waiting impatiently.
I chatted with Samsung support. They talked me through several unproductive procedures, including a “Hard Key Reset” - no joy.
I’m scheduled to leave in a few days on a two-month long trip of my dreams and the entire plan of the trip was on my phone. I’m devastated by this loss and seeing RED!
How can I recover my phone and who at Avast do I want to kill?
