I have just received an update (version 4.1.289) and now when I try to run Avast! Home, I get a message that says "Application cannot load skin. Function “usiGetSkin” failed. When I press “Ok” Avast! closes and does not allow me to scan. What’s up? ???

Try this, click start/then run & type in this regsvr32 actskin4.ocx (U might have to browse to the file in windows\system dir
This will reregister the Avast skin file & U should be able to run it

Maybe if you download the skins again and double-click (execute/load) them the Registry will be corrected and updated. Link here.
