the last two times I have scanned the report has said various files could not be scanned. Today I have a list of 8 file names all starting c:\program files\avast software\avast\defs\12122901\ then ending VARIOUS FILE NAMES such as aswcmnbs.dll.
I have had problems with my pc these past few weeks and can’t turn it off. the last time I did it took me a week to get it to re-start and load up properly again.
are these un-scannable files something to worry about?

no, files that can not be scanned are just that, no mor no less, it does not mean they are infected
it is normal, and avast just gave you a scan error report and the reason why (you dont mentioned the reason)
the one you list there from avast\defs folder usually happens when avast is doing some house cleaning in that folder. if you reboot and scan again that error should be gone

ah! thank you. must be some other reason I am having problems with my pc then. the scan log stated it couldn’t find the files, which worried me too. But if this is okay then that is one less thing to worry about.
