Update delays

I like Avast but there is one thing that I find aggravating. Whenever my PC returns from hibernation or boots up, I have to wait while Avast looks for updates and downloads what it finds. While Avast is doing that the PC runs at a crawl and I can do little work till Avast finishes.

I know I can change Avast options so it only searches for updates when I ask it to do so manually, but I may forget to do so and therefore leave it on automatic updates. What I would like is the option for Avast to search for updates at regular intervals, BUT not the first thing (!) it does when it or the PC wakes up. The delay that Avast update search imposes in addition to the inevitable wait necessitated by the reboot or return from hibernation is very annoying.

Is there a way to ask Avast to only search for updates at specified intervals but not as soon as it wakes up?

Thanks

Sure, just change (or add) AlwaysConnectedWaitSeconds value into the [InetWD] section of avast4.ini file.
You could set the number of seconds to wait before attempting to update. The default is 30 but it may not be enough in some DSL systems. In this case, you can try increasing this e.g. to 60 (1 minute). That should be enough.

Thank you. Will try that.
