Update to version 4.7

I noticed you released v4.7 for Home & Pro. All my managed clients are still showing that they are running 4.6. How do I get them to run 4.7?

What we always do is release the Home/Pro versions first, waiting for the feedback, and when we are reassured that everything is as flawless as it should, we finally release the managed versions.

It’s usually 1 or 2 weeks later, depending on the situation.

So why did you say…

I'm glad to announce the availability of new versions of avast Home/Professional, avast Server Edition, ADNM / avast NetClient and avast for Kerio.

…in your announcement post ont he 20th April?

It had me scratching my head when I couldn’t find the 4.7 version of the netclient edition.

Huh, where’s this quotation from? I don’t recall writing this (incorrect) statement…

OMG!

I just noticed the date…exactly a year ago!

LOL! What are the chances of that eh?

OOOOOOOOTAY! Sounds like a good idea to me. I’m guessing the clients will be updated automagically?

LOL, that’s really incredible coincidence… ;D

BTW for example, in the case of v4.7, it was really a good decision to postpone the release of the managed clients a bit. A couple of unpleasant bugs were found since the release of Home/Pro 4.7 (e.g. it almost doesn’t work under NT4).

Not really. That’s quite a dangerous action to do, and is definitely not the default (some admins require all respective updates to be first tested on a couple of test machines, before they’re rolled to the whole network).

Instead, you’ll need to run an Updating task on the machine(s) in question (or you can schedule it, too).

Thanks

Yes, understood. I was just wondering if that takes place by default.
