for the past couple days when I turn on my computer a box comes up in the corner and says last update attempt unsuccessful when I go to hit the update button it stops a third of the way the virus version it has is 131210-1 is this something I should be worried about?

The latest version is 131214.0 you could try manually updating ans see if that helps.

Yes and possibly a ‘Repair’ of the Avast Installation if problem persists. :slight_smile:

I tried the update button in the avast program and it still stops at vps_32 and I tried repair option from the install/change in the computer still have definition 131210-1 any other ideas

I am assuming you are using the free version of avast as you didn’t say. In any case download the avast uninstall tool. download the latest version of avast and save to file, uninstall avast and use the uninstall tool.now download the latest version of avast.

no im using internet security not the free one sorry. I noticed last night my control panel said my avast firewall is off but it says its on in the avast tab though? where can I get the uninstaller?

and I thought I would ask whats the newest program mine is 9.0.2008 and virus definitions are still 131210-1

is there a link someone can post where I can get that newest version and defs for avast internet security ive never had MBam or anything so when I get this delt with im gonna get and run that see what it says

I would suggest a clean install of avast!:

  1. Download latest stable version of avast!: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=139606.0
  2. http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (note the Windows Safe Mode detail).
  3. Install avast and restart after the installation finishes.
