Hello all,
This morning I updated to Avast Home 4.6.691 and then followed that by running a scan.
I have 2 Hard disks one of which has about 7GB on single partition and the slave disk has two partitions, one containing two backup images of C drive (usually unable to scan). The other patition contains programme files, my documents, Email messages and address book etc.
This computer has Windows xp home, AMD 1800xp processor.
Normally a scan on this comp. shows about 60,000 files in the standard scan.
After the update to 691 today it showed about 250,000 files scanned, and took 4 times as long to scan. Usually 10 minutes or so to complete scan.
Is this to be the case with the new version, or are the standard scans in the 2 versions different.
Although not a big problem for me, the time difference, it is a big change.
One other query is it possible to not repeatably scan my slave hard disk, unless I make changes to it.
Thanks for any replies,
Regards to All

What was the sensitivity of the scan? (Quick/Standard/Thorough, archives Off/On)
A slight increase of the scanned files number may be possible (after the update), but 60K–>250K is way too much; it sounds more like you changed the sensitivity of the scan… is that possible?
avast! scans whatever you ask it too - I’m afraid it doesn’t have any way to recognize if you made any changes to your slave disk or not.
Hi! Igor,
I scanned on standard, as before update, but I didn’t notice after the update that
Archives was ticked so had scanned archives.
I scanned again after unticking archives and time to scan was 9 minutes 57 seconds.
So apologies to you for bothering you when I should have looked more closely after update.re.ticked archives.
I also had a look to see how to scan C drive only which was easy.
Many thanks to you for your quick and accurate reply.
