how do i install the virus database updates i have just downloaded ???
what did you download?
usually avast! makes an auto update - that means that if you are connected to the internt avast automatically updates and you don’t really have to do anything…
if you downloaded the whole database from http://avast.com/ger/update_avast_4_vps.html you only have to run the file (via doubleclicking) you downloaded…

I’m new here, [Hi for everyone] I have practically the same problem “Automatically Updates”
During avast upload [ver 4.8 Home Edition 4.8.1335] after a few minutes i get comment from avast software.
“Packet was damaged” i may choose “OK” or “Show log”. 
I tried to install again the newest version of Avast Home Ed. but without change.
What I should to do? ???
Please, don’t post twice the same… just double the effort of help.
