When I try and update my engine and virus definitions I get a saying that last encountered error invalid file signature setup will terminate . My current version is 7.0.1426 I get the same message when I try to update my version also.
Hi strawnw88, can you could try an avast repair via the uninstall procedure then follow with a reboot.
If craigb’s suggestion doesn’t work, which it usually does to the trick, wait for the next Avast update and that should fix the problem. Either way, let us know how you do. Thank you.
Thanks for the reply the auto update failed and when I try to repair I get an error message error processing packages please use full update. Thanks
You will need to download the full update of VPS - avast! Virus Definitions Update - Manual Download VPS Update (virus definitions, vpsupd.exe, approx 31MB). - Save the file to your hard disk, locate where you saved it and double click it and that should carry out the virus definitions update.
Note: Ignore the file name in the images of the page that is displayed after clicking the download link, they are for the main program, not for vpsupd.exe which will be downloaded.
