Hello. Recently joined the Avast forums. Love Avast and long time user.
That out of the way I was looking for information on whether or not updating can be performed through another server/machine located in my network. Scenario: Computer A has Avast Home, and is not connected to the Internet (only my Intranet). Computer B has Avast Pro, and is connected to the Internet. Computer A can connect to Computer B. Can Computer B download updates and have Computer A download them from Computer B?
Or copy 400.vps and clnr0.dll files from an updated avast installation to the \Data folder of the off-line computer (having disabled the avast self-defence module first).
You can download the full vpsupd file on computer B, transfer it to computer A and start it there - it installs the latest VPS.
The download is not incremental, however, so it’s quite big.
As for the sharing of the updates as you suggest… it is possible in corporate environments (where avast! managed clients are used instead of avast! Home/Pro, together with ADNM and mirrors) - but not with avast! Home/Pro.
