My Software Updater tells me that my ‘Software Health is CRITICAL’. However, when I try to update the two programmes highlighted, Java Runtime Environment and Firefox, I am presented with, to me, a most bewildering choice of downloads. Also, at the bottom of the Download window there is another small window stating that my computer is in poor health with the option to click and fix now.
If I just leave things as they are will they auto update and should I ignore the offer to fix now?
Managed to get the Firefox download to run but when I clicked on finish I was taken to twitter and a pageful of tweets(?). But behind these tweets in very bold letters was line after line of ‘VERY EXPLICIT CONTENT’. Dont know what on earth is going on but will do a quick scan just in case.
You should always update the programs, especially Java and browsers, because these programs are often exploited by hackers…
Thanks. Have updated both now using FileHippo ![]()
I also updated FF through the avast! Software Updated and used the link provided in the avast! UI.
I had no problems updating Firefox and received no explicit language.
Have no idea what you did on your end. ???
Hi and thank you for your input. I should have said that I totally misread the explicit content warning. It was a warning to parents that if their children accessed twitter then they, the children, could be exposed to explicit content. The same window appeared when I downloaded from FileHippo.
I have no idea what I did at my end either but would like to know how the twitter thing appeared after attempting to download from the Avast link and the FileHippo one.
