upgrade issue ? "the procedure entry point could not be located (...)" message

hi,

Avast Free just told me to upgrade, I don’t know from which version but I use to keep it up to date, so I just did, reboot, then got the following :

The procedure entry point ?PreCreateWithMsgLoop@SysTrayIcon@systray@common_ui@asw@@QAE_NPBUS_InitDescriptor@234@HAA_N@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library CommonUI.dll

I’m running a Win7-64 (up to date), “AvastSvc” is still running, some “aswidsagenta” too and that’s all. no tray icon of course.

any - other than just uninstall/reinstall - idea how to deal with it please ?

Another user in the Japanese forum has the same issue with his/her Avast.

Did you try repair of Avast?
You can do that from Control-panel => Programs and Functions => Avast Free Antivirus => Change.
