Upgrade to Avast Internet Security Problem

Avast forum,

I have a License.avastlic file that was used to activate
Avast Internet Security V5.0 on one of my laptops. I know it’s
good for 3 PCS’ so I want to use it to upgrade my second laptop
which is currently running Avast Free Antivirus.

I start the upgrade by clicking on the Avast icon and going to
the Summary tab and click “Upgrade to avast! Internet Security”.
This takes me to:
http://www.avast.com/lp-upgrade-from-free-5-standard

where I click on “upgrade now”. That takes me to the avast
Official Online Store where they want me to pay for the upgrade.

Seems like I should be able to download it and then use the
License.avastlic to activate it.

I must be doing something wrong.

I would recommend downloading the Internet Security package, then disable you internet Connection, Uninstall the Avast Free, reboot, install Avast Internet Security.

You will be asked for the license key there. I dont think there is any other way and the link is mainly designed, I suppose, for those NOT having a key already.

Bottom line, you got more Avast that needs installed. I doubt you will need to use the cleaner sincce your just upgrading to the IS package.

Sure a bit more of a hassle than you want but not much…really 8)

Hyjaxltd,
I followed your suggestion and it worked but I still think
should have worked the other way.

Thanks,
