URL:Mal infection of svchost.exe

Hello, I am having a similar issue to a number of recent posts: upon opening chrome, I begin to receive fairly regular (every few minutes) Avast notices of blocked infections, even if Chrome is running in the background (meaning, I am not actively navigating to any pages).

AVAST notification:
Object: http://opticized.net/
Infection: URL:Mal
Process: C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe

At first the infected file was alternately coming from chrome.exe and svchost.exe. In effort to fix the issue, I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes and performed an Avast boot-time scan. I am now no longer notified of the chrome.exe infection, but the svchost.exe still persists. Can you please assist?

I have attached the standard log files:

  1. Malwarebytes_log.txt
  2. FRST.txt
  3. Addition.txt

I also attached an image of the popup notification. I attempted to run aswMBR.exe, but the program did not appear to do anything, so I am unable to attach it’s log file.

Thanks in advance–I really appreciate any help you can offer!

You will need to uninstall chrome as it has been converted to developer mode

CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe
Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

THEN

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

[*]Close all open programs and internet browsers.
[*]Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
[*]Click on Scan.
[*]After the scan is complete click on “Clean”
[*]Confirm each time with Ok.
[*]Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
[*]Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
[*]You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

Thanks so much for the quick response!

I uninstalled Chrome as requested, then ran FRST followed by AdwCleaner. I’ve attached the logs from both program runs.

You can now re-install chrome if you wish. Have the alerts ceased ?

Yes they have! Thank you very much.

If all is well tomorrow let me know and I will tidy up

All is indeed well–thanks again! Very impressed with the speed of your replies and success of your fixes.
