My USB ports not working but device manager says “ This device is working properly”. I have checked all my computer USB ports.
My USB ports all not working. I have tried everything.
Try different devices with different ports
Reinstall drivers
Reformat harddrive, install windows and drivers
Checked USB ports are enabled in BIOS
none of these seemed to work.
Only mouse works on my USB ports. My PEN drive not works on my computer USB ports, while it is working on other computers.
Visited hardware forums but not found the solution.
The USB PEN drive was detected on previous OS Windows XP when I updated my computer but started giving problems.
Never detected on Windows Vista Ultimate. I have installed TWO times Windows Vista Ultimate during the last – 30 days but no result.
I think it is not related to avast5, at present I am using avast 5.0.418
I have extra VIA USB 2.0 card installed for USB devices, even the in-built Intel USB ports are not working.
Only the mouse is working on these VIA USB ports on Windows Vista Ultimate. I also connected my Mobile phone to my computer for charging through USB port by using USB data cable and the mobile phone was charging on VIA USB 2.0 but the USB HP PEN drive is not working while it detected immediately on other computers.
Well then, this sounds very much like a hardware failure to me.
Try to go to the mainboard manufacturer homepage and download the current chipset-drivers.
And check the BIOS settings about USB.
Within few days I will contact my computer seller to remove VIA USB card or any other extra card that I have installed in my computer slots like I have extra sound card installed in my PC slot but disabled in device manager never used that may be causing the USB to not function properly.
Graphics driver is sharing IRQ16 with USB Universal Host Controller 24C2
D-Link LAN is sharing IRQ19 with USB Universal Host Controoller 24C4 (see screenshot below - Intel IRQ)
(Do you have two more USB ports - 4 in total on board, obviously you do).
These are the Intel onboard USB and I would say there is a likely resource conflict as they should have their own interrupt channels. USB onboard has own IRQ or else how can semd request to CPU when channel is taken by another device. Here is my IRQ list (screenshot - SIS IRQ)
And you say other complications - an extra sound card. I have onboard VGA and sound but I use cards instead.
I’m not sure how this could have happened with the IRQ request channels. But best to reseat all cards in PCI slots. The
seller should do this.
VGA is onboard. And sound onboard (I’m guess i845 model rather than check). And USB onboard. Run computer like that if want and see if all good.
And can put nother sound card in and use that instead of onboard. And LAN card. Should be all good with right drivers.
Put the VIA USB card in last after sure that all is running smoothly. Some problems with these cards sometimes but with the right driver should be no problem. Make sure the correct driver.
Now have I forgotten anything. Remind me if I have.
Download and install the chipset driver from your motherboard’s manufacturer homepage.
Additionally, in BIOS you may disable the parallel and com ports (I presume you are not using these ancient ports) and gain some free resources.
I think maybe soft modem. Communications device.
Follow Zyndstoff advice - find the motherboard (model) numbers written (usual in large type) on the surface of the motherboard and search with google until you can get to manufacturer site for information you need. They will have utility to enable you to find exact page for yr model.
Is this the system that is giving you blue screens (in yr other thread)?
I have disabled the conventional parallel and serial ports in the BIOS gained more functionality but still my USB PEN drive is not detected like it is detected immediately on other computers.
I was using my computer for over SIX (6) hours before Blue Screen Problem only while using Internet not while playing games during which more computer resources are consumed for Blue Screen to occur. I never play games on my computer I use only internet.
Where these ERROR CODE 10 MESSAGES located after Blue screen computer restart?
Where are the log files located? Tell me I will give you the details.
I seen messages during Blue screen like this one 0x00000001.
Okay error codes date back in time a bit. May be a good idea to post the information that can be found on the blue screen when it occurs. The message 0x00000001 is likely indicate same thing, device and driver failed so computer bailed out(for safety of system). I think that it is yr D-Link at issue but the blue screen may come when another device tries to run at the same time.
Can you recall exactly what you did before blue screen, for example you may have initialised software for a device other than those already running (graphics, D-link, etc…) or made request to one of the running devices (to change current activity).
also, if you haven’t already, check System Information - Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties, select System Information (I’m using XP so sorry cannot bring the Vista box up). There will be much info there - you will see Summary of system, IRQs in Hardware section, etc…but go to Components and expand - down the list you will see Problem Devices, check there to see if any info.
Yes, this is the same D-Link device which I am using as you shown in the image.
Where the error codes located?
I was using internet continuously for over SIX (6) hours on the same D-Link device before Blue Screen Problem. Blue Screen Problem occurred total of more than five times after windows vista installation. I have updated my D-Link driver and graphics driver 13 days ago when I installed windows vista again after Windows Vista Service Pack 1 installation failure on restart.
