USB virus messages

Hello, I am new to Avast Forums and the Antivirus.
Well this morning i plugged my USB into the F:/ and 3 virus messages appeared.

  1. autorun.inf BV:autorun-g [WRM]
  2. ^ as above
  3. winudpmgr.exe ← Win32:Malware-gen

The screen opened up the part where you can view your files. I immeditaly pulled it out, and was wondering what i should do, since i did a full computer scan and nothing else has been detected.
I moved the Infected files to the Virus Chest, and was wondering if i should wait the 2 weeks like you have suggested people before or am i safe to delete them now?
Thanks any sorry for my not great detailed question.
Any further advice would be greatly appreciated
sorry for my english. :stuck_out_tongue:

It certainly looks like a good detection, as a) there should really be no need for an autorun.inf file in your USB in the first place and b) the file it is trying to run is highly suspect, trying to look like a windows update (not).

I would say that it won’t hurt to leave them there, but given what they are (not potentially essential system files), you could delete them.

    Flash Drive Disinfector
Information and Download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs from >here< and save it to your desktop.
[*] Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.[*] The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.[*] Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.[*] Reboot your computer when done.
Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don’t delete this folder…it will help protect your drives from future infection.

Is this just for cleaning my USB, or seeing if the Virus is on the computer?
And i think i got it from a public computer not entirely sure how it got there.
also will it get rid of winudpmgr.exe ← Win32:Malware-gen ?
also may i ask why its called “autorun.inf” the name of the virus in the first place?

  1. first run the utility on your computer, that places autorun.inf folders on your hard disk partition preventing future autorun.inf files being placed on those partitions.
  2. connect your USB dive, run it once for each USB that you have and this does the same.
  3. it is a preventative measure not a cleaning method and you should allow avast to send what it finds to the chest.
  4. if these files still exist on your USB then delete them.
  5. ensure that your OS is up to date as there have been windows security updates covering autorun on certain media types.
