USD versus AUD

G’day readers. I was this minute in the process of renewing my Avast annual subs, when I noticed a significant dollar variation between the USD and AUD. I do live in Australia, aka the Lucky Country, and expected my subscription to be slightly cheaper than the USD. Instead, this is the dollar conversion I was confronted with: USD $34.99 and AUD $49.99 wtf ?? So much for the lucky country. Anyway, can anyone qualified to comment enlighten me why the AUD conversion is so high? I’m not spending my ‘hard earned’ dollars just yet… Steve

Thats quite a difference, especially when our Aussie dollar is still worth slightly more than the US dollar at the moment.

Maybe our Australian Prime Minister (Dr Evil) is charging us more through the so call extra Bullsh#t carbon tax crap, instead of GST ::slight_smile: :o

Thats got nothing to do with the price avast set’s Speedy.

I’ve got a funny feeling that Speedy already knew that.

I have circumvented this problem in the past by choosing to pay in USD at the end of the transaction. E.g. last time I paid USD 31.50 (55% Wilders discount) which became AUD 29.50 after conversion/fees, for 3-user 12-month AIS. However, I’m not sure this option works with the standard 50% discount to Australian purchasers, i.e. can you change the currency at the last point without losing the discount?

Good idea Vladimyr, I will check paying in USD, I post back later…

Vladimyr you’re starting to become like Spock

Have you been reading my mind if so, what am I thinking right now Mr Spock ;D ;D

Right now Speedy you are thinking,

“Having thrown in such a spurious political comment, I do hope the Prime Minister doesn’t turn out to be an active forum member.”

Personally I think you’ve gotten away with it. Currently there’s no-one registered with the username ‘Dr Evil’, not even the Opposition Leader.

That’s close enough Spock  “Live long and prosper” ;D 8) 8) 8)
