Use Passive Mode to install/test updated versions?

Windows 10 Pro

I really can’t decide if this is a Stupid Question or not, so here goes: since older version installers aren’t available, is it possible to put Avast (Free) into Passive Mode and use an offline installer to test an updated version installed into a dedicated folder? or would that cause conflicts in references to ProgramData / AppData folders and the registry?

Do you mean, you want to test new Avast version while keeping old ones in Passive Mode? If so I suppose it’s not possible. I wonder it’s even possible to try that, as installer may automatically determine existing installation and update it.

Maybe you should try image backup software instead.

Yes, though I’m way too lazy to make system images more than 2x/yr
