Use these URL checkers.

Hi malware fighters,

Hi malware fighters,

There are online checkers, that are part of security products that we can use for free:
For instance check the qualification of a certain site’s content, use this:
http://database.n2h2.com/cgi-perl/catrpt.pl

Then to get information on a certain site’s url from a dns list (Bullguard’'s dns list):
http://tanaya.net/cgi-bin/dns.cgi?whois+ url), e.g.
this could be:
http://tanaya.net/cgi-bin/dns.cgi?whois+204.70.192.121

Use and enjoy,

polonus

Why not simply use McAfee's SiteAdvisor ? :)

Hey Bob ;D
Sometimes it is not enough McAfee’s SiteAdvisor, doesn’t provide with all the answers especially if you are malware fighter, and you need more detailed information on IP addresses and etc.
@ polonus thanks for the info

I would tend to agree it is more a research tool for the wierdo’s amongst us (what me ) Particularly the DNS list as sometimes whois is a bit vague ;D

Hi essexboy,

Weirdo’s help the Internet further, isn’t it. Analyzing gives insight, and that is why some do it. Here is something else:

Or to see what a server is running: http://psacake.com/web/w3info.asp

And there is more online: http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scanner/

I use win32whois, freeware which does a reasonably good job of retrieving IP address info.

http://www.gena01.com/win32whois/

Win32Whois is a free, small and efficient tool that lets you retrieve registration information for a particular domain or website. It takes URL, hostname or IP address and will generate a detailed report listing all the available technical and contact information it can find. The generated report can be saved as a file or used to track down website owners, administrators or spammers.

I happen to have NeoTrace which does an excellent job but I only use it on some occasions to see who is using
MySharedFiles and It’s surprising to see that the users come from all the corners of the globe.

Like Bob, I also use NeoTrace and have for many years.
