Using a CPU stress tool

Hi malware fighters,

In an article upon the five most underrated security technologies, we find the remarks of botnet researcher Kandy Zabka: According to Kandy Zabka, a botnet researcher,
a diagnostic CPU stress utility is an excellent tool to flush the exact memory addresses from memory that are used by a cashe posoing exploit. “When the tool is being run several times, it becomes clear which blocks are involved”, says Zabka.

CPU diagnostic stress tool: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

Added by me, pol: “CPU stress tools can help identify rustock malcode for instance, certain instabilities found with event viewer can also denote a machine that has been infested with rustock malware, it will produce a typical error code, quite clear for those that are trained to look for this”

I can’t see how CPU-Z can be considered a CPU Stress tool as it doesn’t put a load on your CPU, it just gathers information about your CPU.

CPU-Z is a freeware that gathers information on some of the main devices of your system.

Perhaps what was meant to be used was PC WIZARD 2010 which does have benchmark tests and is also from CPUID.

CPU Stress Tools:

Orthos test works like a charm for me.
Few seconds after it starts… the fans go to 100%

Well… the complete failure of Process Lasso don’t you think? :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:
In this case, won’t be TuneUp Utilities promising much more that it can deliver?

Using CPU Eater (or PC Stress by TuneUp Utilities), anybody can test easily that Process Lasso does what is their goal - it’s why it is a Proof of Concept. Jeremy Collake did this tool for some users that are skeptical about. Now the skepticals ‘experts’ don’t need to have anymore the placebo feeling that PL doesn’t work. They can test it easily instead to talk with placebo feelings.

And if they don’t like Process Lasso (and their tools…) for some inner prejudice, they can use PC Stress by TuneUp Utilities to test it without doubtful and placebo arguments.

Sorry majoMo. I’ve misunderstood. Probably my bad English.

I’m sure mine is worst.

Best regards.

If it is good enough for DavidR avast! Überevangelist then it is good to have a current signature.

Not sure how to get in contact the proper way, but have been reading some of your post and you seem very knowledgeable and understanding.
I bought avast5 and it was working fine for about two months, but now I have a red X on the icon, when I open avast up it says it is off, I press the fix now and nothing, I press the start button and nothing, I send tickets to the techs and also Nothing. I am thinking about erasing and starting anew but do not want and do not think I should have to repay the fifty buck or what ever it was. Should I just scrub it and move on to Norton or another form of security that has actual people working with and for them?

Greetings,

Someone sent me the link to this forum. I’m happy to see the cpu stress testing working so well and the interest and success you all have in implementing it.

CPU stress? Just install BOINC
It will make sure the cpu is used 100% 24/7 (or whenever your system is running)
