Ever though of using http://www.trialpay.com/ as payment, that would for sure “lure” a lot of people to “buy” Avast Pro, since they could complete an offer through Trialpay and Trialpay would then pay Avast for them.
I know some other programs like Getright and Winzip are having great success with Trialpay.
Up until you mentioned it I have never heard of Trialpay but the most well known one perhaps is PayPal that many are familiar with.
TrialPay is a new way for your customers to purchase products and services online.

Sorry, but when it comes to parting with my money I would much rather stick with a more established method of payment.
I think you misunderstand the concept of TrialPay, it’s not a payment service like Paypal, not even close.
Lets say a person wants to buy Avast Pro for a year and doesn’t feel like paying 40$ for it, TrialPay gives him an alternative.
TrialPay works this way:
A person visit the Avast TrialPay store and enters his name and email.
He gets a list of offers / programs he has to complete one off (some of the actually free, eg. the ebay offer)
Eg. he choose the Ebay program, where he has to sign up with a new user and make a bid on something on ebay.
TrialPay now recieves an amount of money from eBay, which the larger part of is forwarded to Avast
The user gets a pro key for Avast
So Avast gets payed, the user gets a key without paying anything or not alot and everybody is happy
I read a story about TrialPay, that some software maker, has gotten 60% more sale after he started to use TrialPay and as i mentioned before, Getright and Winzip use it with great success.
Sorry you also misunderstand my concept of using established methods of payment, if I use something and it meets my needs I pay for it.
This scheme to me looks too good to be true, someone has to pay, so say I sign up with ebay and bid on something. I might not win that bid how much does Alwil get 100% of nothing is still nothing. Even if I won and bought a $40 item ebay doesn’t pay anything like $40 to TrialPay and they wouldn’t pay Alwil $40 either. So how would Alwil get the $40 it would have got from a sale of the Pro license, so everyone is is happy except the software vendor who could get a fraction of the value of the license.
Sorry but I just can’t see this working, it seems to be pie in the sky to me (IMHO) and not something I would be likely to get involved with, I would use normal methods of payment for goods and services that I require rather than going round the houses to try to get a software license.
I haven’t bought either Getright or WinZip conventionally and I can’t see me using trialpay to get them for free or not a lot, colour me sceptical.
Are you declaring an interest in trialpay because this Topic seems more marketing than general interest and not directly related to the avast 4 Home/Pro forum ?
Well thats great, but a lot of people don’t, and those people Avast doesnt have any chance to sell their software to.
Larger companies like ebay, T mobile, AT&T, InkClub, Tivo, Blockbuster which some of the offers are from, actually want to pay a nice sum of money for new customers, just take a look at a lot of the freebies which these companies gives out all the time, they are almost desperate for new customers
Thats your choice, but it actually works, i used TrialPay for Getright. GetRight is a nice piece of software, but there were other good free alternatives on the market, so the 30$ it costs kind of scared af me away, but with TrialPay i got a “free” GetRight and the company behind GetRight got another sale.
I saw how easy it was with Getright and the success they have with it, so I thought that Avast should know about the possibility, because it could open up a new market for them and improve their sale, so I was only to trying to be helpful actually
I confess that the approach is interesting, and I will look into it further for use in avast! payment solutions. Though, by definition, that makes no promises at all.
